This level 3 Access to HE Diploma is designed to prepare learners without traditional qualifications for entry into Higher Education (HE). The Diploma provides an opportunity for learners to acquire and develop knowledge and skills needed to progress to higher education study and enables learners to develop social and emotional skills such as communication and confidence.
The Access to HE Diploma (Science) aims to develop student’s knowledge and skills in a range of different science professions. Students will develop their understanding of the key scientific principles and learn how to conduct scientific experiments. During this Diploma students will explore different applications of science and enhance their problem solving skills through a variety of different assessments whilst developing their subject knowledge.
It also provides students with the opportunity to look at different areas of science, including biology, chemistry and physics, as well as computing and mathematics. Students will also be required to complete a practical assessment unit as part of this Diploma. Throughout the Diploma, students will also develop transferable skills such as problem solving, working with others, interpreting information and numeracy.
Learners who complete and achieve the Access to HE Diploma could progress onto Higher Education courses including Bachelor Degrees, Foundation Degrees, Higher National Certificates and Diplomas (HNC/HND) and Higher Degree Apprenticeships. The Access to HE Diploma could also support entry into employment areas where evidence of study and achievement at level 3 is required.
