Access to HE Diploma (Public Services)

This level 3 Access to HE Diploma is regulated by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and is designed to prepare learners without traditional qualifications for entry into Higher Education (HE).

The Access to HE Diploma (Public Services) aims to develop students’ understanding of a range of subjects in order to define and explore the importance of public services. Students will look at human behaviour, undertake research and enhance their communication skills.

This qualification also allows students to undertake units in policing and criminology, sociology and social policy, psychology, politics, law, business subject groups including Police Powers, Race and Ethnicity, Abnormal Psychology, Understanding Stress and Property Offences, Teamwork and Leadership units. Throughout the Diploma, students will also develop transferable skills such as research skills, working with others, utilising evidence and cross-cultural understanding.

The aim of this qualification is to prepare students for progression into higher education subjects including, but not limited to:

  • business
  • law
  • policing
  • psychology
  • public services
  • sociology
  • sport

Learners who complete and achieve the Access to HE Diploma could progress onto Higher Education courses including bachelor’s Degrees, Foundation Degrees, Higher National Certificates and Diplomas (HNC/HND) and Higher Degree Apprenticeships. The Access to HE Diploma could also support entry into employment areas where evidence of study and achievement at level 3 is required
