The AIM Qualifications Level 2 Certificate in Humanistic Counselling serves as a broad introduction to one of the main approaches in the world of counselling, Humanistic Counselling. This approach has informed most of what we know of the practice of counselling today and introduces the theories of Rogers’ Person Centred counselling, Perls’ Gestalt approach and Berne’s Transactional Analysis.
This course introduces the philosophy of Existentialism and the concepts of phenomenology and self-actualisation that underpin the particular kind of warm, supportive and valuing relationship that distinguishes counselling as a unique way of supporting individuals.
This qualification is also of interest as Continued Professional Development to professionals in health and social care, management and education who would like to understand the philosophy behind listening and helping skills. It is also of interest to learners who would like to understand some key models of the mind for greater self-awareness and self- development.
To achieve this qualification learners must complete all the essential components (see Qualification Specification).
