The Level 1 Award in Youth Work is the first youth worker qualification on the NYA’s Standard Qualification Framework for Youth Work.
This qualification is knowledge only and provides learners with an understanding of youth work, the role of youth workers, and the importance of safe and inclusive practice.
Through the four mandatory units it introduces learners to the seven themes of the Standard Qualification Framework.
On successful completion of the AIM Qualifications Level 1 Award in Youth Work, learners may progress to further youth work study at Level 2 and then Level 3 as they develop competence and gain experience.
The qualification can also support progression into roles working with children and young people (for example, as a youth work volunteer, assistant/trainee youth worker or youth support worker, depending on organisational requirements), alongside further training in areas such as safeguarding, equality and diversity, and supporting young people’s wellbeing.
To achieve this qualification learners must complete all the essential components (see Qualification Specification).
AIM Qualifications Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry in Youth Support Work (Diploma)
The AIM Qualifications Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry in Youth Support Work (Diploma) provides learners with a foundational understanding of youth work principles, starting with key skills in safeguarding and communication.
AIM Qualifications Level 3 Certificate in Working with Gangs and Youth Violence
The AIM Qualifications Level 3 Certificate in Working with Gangs and Youth Violence provides learners with the underpinning knowledge and skills to be able to work with young people involved in violent behaviour or activities and with young people in gang impacted environments.
AIM Qualifications Certificate Youth Work Practice (England)
This qualification is for employees who assist in the delivery of operational youth work and undertake duties under direction of a qualified practitioner, where initiative and independent action is limited.
AIM Qualifications Level 3 Award in Education and Training
This qualification prepares trainee teachers to teach in a wide range of contexts and requires observation and assessment of performance.
