This qualification provides an introduction to youth work practice.
Learners will develop their knowledge in the following areas:
▪ An introduction to the sector
▪ Safe working practices
▪ The importance of effective teamwork in the sector
▪ Working with young people in the local community
▪ Self-assessment and future development opportunities
The AIM Qualifications Level 1 Award in Introduction to Youth Work Practice provides an induction to the broader programme of the Certificate and also meets the needs for learners working with new groups and youth work projects that meet for short periods such as summer programmes, school peer education projects. This qualification is available in England and Wales.
To achieve this qualification learners must complete all the essential components (see Qualification Specification).
AIM Qualifications Level 1 Certificate in Introduction to Youth Work
This qualification extends the knowledge and skills to provide a more comprehensive understanding and builds on the Award content. This qualification is available in England and Wales.
AIM Qualifications Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles (England)
This qualification is designed to be an introductory qualification to enable learners to understand the principles of working with young people in a range of youth work settings.
AIM Qualifications Certificate Youth Work Practice (England)
This qualification is for employees who assist in the delivery of operational youth work and undertake duties under direction of a qualified practitioner, where initiative and independent action is limited.
AIM Qualifications Level 4 Certificate Professional Development (Youth Work)
The qualification is designed for those engaged directly in Youth Work or through multi-agency work, such as social workers, police officers, emergency services, teachers and those who work within the youth service.
