AIM Qualifications Diploma in Small Animal Hydrotherapy

Learners will develop a deeper understanding of Small Animal Massage and gain higher level of knowledge in anatomy and physiology. They will gain the knowledge to be able to establish and manage a hydrotherapy business. Learners will also develop a deeper understanding of pool operations and water management in hydrotherapy centres.

Learners will have completed an industry recognised Level 3 Diploma qualification in small animal hydrotherapy.

This qualification will enable learners to progress onto the AIM Qualifications Level 5 Diploma in Small Animal Rehabilitation Practitioner. It will also support progression directly into higher level employment as a veterinary hydrotherapist or centre manager, or further study including veterinary physiotherapy and rehabilitation of small animals.

To achieve the AIM Qualifications Level 4 Diploma in Small Animal Hydrotherapy learners must achieve:

• 68 credits from the Mandatory Units
• no optional units for this qualification

Entry Requirements

Learners will have completed an industry recognised Level 3 Diploma qualification in small animal hydrotherapy.

Quality Assurance Requirements

Tutors:

To offer this qualification, centres must ensure that tutors hold or are working towards:

• Level 3 Diploma in Small Animal Hydrotherapy qualification.
• Level 4 or higher qualification within an animal care related subject.
• A UK recognised teaching and/or assessing qualification.
• At least a year?s meaningful experience in working within the subject area of animal care and/or welfare.
• Tutors must have access to the physical resources and practical equipment required to deliver the practical aspects of this qualification.

Internal Quality Assurer (IQA):

Centres must also ensure that they have in place an Internal Quality Assurance person who:

• Holds or is working towards a Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices or its equivalent
• Has substantial experience of working in or assessing qualifications in the animal care sector.
• Is familiar with the assessment requirements of the qualification for which they are the Internal Quality Assurer.
