This qualification covers different areas of animal care, including general animal care, horse care, canine care, farm animal care and bird care.
Learners studying this qualification will be able to develop practical care skills for a range of animals, whilst also developing the essential communication, information technology, English and maths skills they will need to succeed in the industry.
The introduction of laws on domestic and captive animals (the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and the Animal Welfare Act Scotland 2006) requires those working with animals to meet the responsibility for and to promote to others the duty of care of animals. These qualifications have been developed with industry experts putting Animal welfare at the forefront of the development, taking into account DEFRA Codes of Practice for the Welfare of Dogs and Horses.
