The AIM Qualifications Entry Level Science qualifications have been designed to enable learners to engage, explore, enjoy and engender an interest in science and encourage a spirit of enquiry.
These are generalist qualification, covering physical and life sciences, and applications of science. They help to build on subject content which is typically taught at Key Stage 3 and provides a suitable foundation for the study of GCSE.
Progression routes for learners include GCSE and equivalent vocational science qualifications.

Centres can choose from a variety of units, as appropriate to the needs of learners. Learners will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to progress to higher level qualifications in science.
AIM Qualifications Level 1 Certificate in Science
The AIM Qualifications Level 1 Certificate in Science has been designed to engender an interest in science and encourage a spirit of enquiry. This qualification is a generalist qualification, covering physical and life sciences, and applications of science in, for example, forensics and architecture. Centres can choose from a variety of units, as appropriate to the needs of learners. Learners will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to progress to higher level qualifications in science.
AIM Qualifications Level 2 Certificate Skills for Further Study in Science and Engineering
The qualification focuses on study skills, literacy and numeracy and personal development and includes optional units that offer learners a taste of subject areas in science and engineering that they may go on to study.
Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science)
The Access to HE Diploma (Science) aims to develop student’s knowledge and skills in a range of different science professions.
Diploma Access to Higher Education Diploma (Health Science)
This diploma has now been withdrawn and centres can no longer register learners against it.
