Learners will develop their knowledge of the counselling profession, looking at the role of professional frameworks/codes of conduct and the core personal qualities that enable competent counsellors.
Learners are introduced to the roots of counselling theory and how theory underpins counselling skills. This qualification provides a rudimentary understanding of the three main areas of counselling theory and how they can relate to counselling practice. Learners will also begin to develop their practical skills in developing, maintaining and concluding a basic counselling session, providing them with the skills, knowledge and understanding of practice within the boundaries of an ethical framework.
This qualification has been designed as a step in the ladder for professional development for aspiring and practising counsellors. Learners may progress onto the AIM Qualifications Level 3 Certificate in Counselling.
