The Level 1 Award in Performing Arts provides the knowledge, understanding and skills needed for learners to contribute to performing arts activities.

This qualification will give learners the flexibility to sample different creative areas, rather than specialise too early. It provides a platform for progression and enables the development of generic transferable skills.

Learners will be prepared to progress to a qualification in the same subject area. It will support a role in the workplace and prepare learners for employment.

To be awarded the AIM Qualifications Level 1 Award in the Performing Arts, learners must achieve:

  • 6 credits from any combination of units

Assessment Methods

Portfolio of evidence will include professionally captured and post-produced digital imagery as per assessment criteria. In addition, each learner will produce a Production journal articulating production and research evidence to support their work.

Quality Assurance Requirements

Tutors:

To offer this qualification, centres must ensure that tutors hold or are working towards:

  • Tutors should have a qualification or experience in Performing Arts.
  • Teaching qualification required.

Internal Quality Assurer (IQA):

Centres must also ensure that they have in place an Internal Quality Assurance person who:

  • Holds or is working towards a Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices or its equivalent.
  • Has substantial experience of working in or assessing qualifications in Performing Arts.
  • Is familiar with the assessment requirements of the qualification for which they are the Internal Quality Assurer.
