This qualification can be used flexibly to meet learner needs. Depending on the context of the learning and the needs of each individual learner, the qualification can:

  • prepare individuals to progress to a qualification in the same subject area but at a
    higher level or requiring more specific knowledge, skills and understanding
  • prepare learners for employment
  • support a role in the workplace
  • encourage engagement in learning.

This qualification has been designed to enable learners to:

  • know the two themes of Protective Behaviours
  • be familiar with the Seven Strategies of Protective Behaviours and how they enable
    the implementation of Protective Behaviours core ideas into practice
  • explore the Protective Behaviours approach to problem solving
  • recognise the influence of unwritten rules on individual practice and workplace
    culture
  • understand the use of safe, empowering language for changing attitudes
  • consider ways of changing or challenging practice on a personal level, within the
    workplace and with service users.

The course will enable participants to use Protective Behaviours for themselves and with others, in both their personal lives and working practice. It will enhance learner’s ability to look after themselves and others.

To be awarded the AIM Qualifications Level 2 Award in Protective Behaviours Training, learners must achieve:

Quality Assurance Requirements

Tutors:

To offer this qualification, centres must ensure that tutors hold or are working towards:

  • Have completed the Protective Behaviours Consortium Foundation and Intermediate Level training

and

  • Have a minimum of 2 years? experience of Protective Behaviours Training

and

  • Hold a minimum of Level 3 Award in Education and Training

and

  • Have completed a TRAINING FOR TRAINERS PROGRAMME at Protective Behaviours
    Consortium

and

  • be a registered trainer with Protective Behaviours Consortium.

Internal Quality Assurer (IQA):

Centres must also ensure that they have in place an Internal Quality Assurance person who:

  • Holds or is working towards a Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices or its equivalent.
  • Has substantial experience of working in or assessing qualifications in science.
  • Is familiar with the assessment requirements of the qualification for which they are the Internal Quality Assurer.
