This qualification will enable learners to develop their knowledge of the counselling profession, looking at the role of professional frameworks/codes of conduct and the core personal qualities that enable competent counsellors.

By studying this qualification, learners will begin to develop their practical skills in developing, maintaining and concluding a basic counselling session, providing them with the skills, knowledge and understanding of practice within the boundaries of an ethical framework.

This qualification is aimed at those who may have little or no experience in the subject and it does not lead directly to an employed role. However, it has been designed as the first step in the ladder for professional development for aspiring and practising counsellors.
