This qualification has been developed to provide learners with knowledge of felines in boarding facilities. This Award meets the licensing requirements for The Animal Welfare (Licensing Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018.

 

Learners will gain knowledge on the care of felines in catteries and feline behaviour and psychology.

 

This qualification can be used to enable learners to gain the knowledge to obtain employment in boarding facilities. It will also enable progression to the Level 3 Diploma in Feline Care, Behaviour and Welfare, and onto higher levels of animal related study.

To achieve the AIM Qualifications Level 3 Award in Feline Care, Behaviour and Development learners must achieve:

  • 10 credits from the two Mandatory Units
  • no optional units within this qualification

Quality Assurance Requirements

Tutors:

To offer this qualification, centres must ensure that tutors hold or are working towards:

  • A Level 3 qualification in teaching in the area of animal care and/or feline care or equivalent experience.
  • A UK recognised teaching and/or assessing qualification.
  • At least a year’s meaningful experience in working within the subject area of animal care and/or feline care.

Internal Quality Assurer (IQA):

Centres must also ensure that they have in place an Internal Quality Assurance person who:

  • Holds or is working towards a Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices or its equivalent.
  • Has substantial, documented experience of working in or assessing qualifications in working in animal care and/or feline care.
  • Is familiar with the assessment requirements of the qualification for which they are the Internal Quality Assurer.
