The AIM Qualifications Entry Level Award in English (Entry 2) offers opportunities for a wide range of learners to build confidence and knowledge in the core skills of English. The qualifications consist of units at Entry 2. The units are designed to target the specific skills needs of learners, filling gaps in their knowledge of the fundamentals of English.

This qualification can be used flexibly to meet learner needs. Depending on the context of the learning and the needs of each individual learner, the qualification can:

  • Prepare individuals to progress to a qualification in the same subject area but at a higher level or requiring more specific knowledge, skills and understanding
  • Prepare learners for employment
  • Support a role in the workplace
  • Encourage engagement in learning

This qualification has been designed to enable learners to:

  • Build confidence in their English skills
  • Build knowledge of the fundamentals of English
  • Fill skills gaps to enable progression to other qualifications, further learning or employment
  • Make the most of work, education and everyday life

To be awarded the AIM Qualifications Entry Level Award in English (Entry 2), learners must achieve:

Quality Assurance Requirements

Tutors:

To offer this qualification, centres must ensure that tutors hold or are working towards:

  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training; or
  • Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training; or?
  • Level 3 or 4 PTLLS (or equivalent) and
  • Has experience of working in, or teaching qualifications in English.

Internal Quality Assurer (IQA):

Centres must also ensure that they have in place an Internal Quality Assurance person who:

  • Holds or is working towards a Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices or its equivalent.
  • Has experience of working in or assessing qualifications in English.
  • Is familiar with the assessment requirements of the qualification for which they are the Internal Quality Assurer.
