This Diploma is designed to provide a foundational understanding of sustainability principles and practices, raising awareness and educating about the critical importance of sustainability in various sectors, including energy, agriculture, and urban development.
The Diploma will also provide opportunity for development of practical skills in sustainable practices, and academic skills such as critical thinking and problem solving.

The intention will be for learners to progress onto higher education courses related to sustainability, as well as environmental management and conservation.

The Rules of Combination will require 30 graded credits to be achieved from units within the Geography and Environmental Science subject group, with 15 other graded credits taken from the same subject group, Biology, Chemistry, Law, Physics and or Sociology.

Examples of units include Environmental Science,  Greenhouse Effect and Global Warming, Conservation and Sustainable Development, and Globalisation.  There must also be 15 ungraded credits achieved from Study Skills and or Introductory Academic Units.  All learners will study the mandatory 6 credit ungraded Academic Study Skills unit.
