At AIM, we believe great outcomes happen when we build them with you, not in isolation.
Collaboration sits at the heart of our qualification and standards strategy, and it will guide everything we do as the new Apprenticeship Regulatory Framework takes shape.
What’s changing and why it matters
Recent sector updates give clearer direction for apprenticeship assessment and delivery:
- Ofqual has launched a new 10‑week consultation on the draft regulatory framework for apprenticeship assessment, closing on 11 February 2026. Providers and employers are strongly encouraged to provide feedback. AIM is coordinating a response.
- The Government has added public feedback and final decisions sections to the regulatory framework pages, helping organisations plan with greater certainty.
- While attending the Federation of Awarding Bodies conference, AIM heard firsthand how Ofqual’s Chief Regulator Sir Ian Bauckham CBE emphasised dialogue with awarding organisations and reaffirmed that apprenticeship assessment will remain valid, reliable and a trusted signifier of occupational competence.
- On 16th December GOV.UK updated their list of Apprenticeship Revisions which details 93 standards which will be the first to undergo reforms. AIM has identified a number of these standards which we currently deliver and plan to redevelop for the reforms. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/apprenticeship-standards-revisions-and-adjustments
These developments underscore a simple truth: we believe we should go further, faster, by working together. AIM wants to continue this by working with training providers and employers.
How AIM will collaborate, starting now
Task & Finish Groups (open to all)
We’re convening Task & Finish Groups where external stakeholder input, from Colleges, Training Providers and employers, will be essential. These short, focused groups will co‑produce practical approaches and tools that reflect what we all want. While AIM is establishing internal readiness through an Apprenticeship Assessment Reform working group, our commitment is to design with the sector, not for it.
Who can join?
We welcome any provider or employer with an interest in shaping high‑quality, workable apprenticeship assessment and support materials. You do not need to be an existing AIM centre; we want broad representation to ensure diversity of perspectives.
What you will do:
- Review draft processes and materials for practicality and robustness
- Share delivery insight and operational challenges
- Test proposals against real learners, centre and employer needs
- Agree clear, publishable recommendations
Co‑development of assessment plans
As assessment plans are published, AIM will facilitate co‑development sessions, so sector feedback informs our guidance, exemplification, and standardisation support from day one.
The aim is simple: strong, implementable assessment that works for Apprentices, Training Providers, and employers alike.

Our commitment
AIM will continue to uphold rigorous standards, robust quality assurance, and ethical practice, partnering confidently with centres and employers while keeping learners at the heart of every decision.
We will keep sharing guidance, timelines, and opportunities to collaborate, so you are never left guessing about what is next. These are key changes for the sector, and we can’t, and won’t, do it without you.
