The analysis of the Final Award Board data from 2024-25 has identified the positive impact the Access to HE Diploma is having for learners who completed and achieved the full Diploma.
A total of 3,149 full Access to HE Diplomas across 57 Diplomas have been awarded and included learners who had been on programme for over a year on part time courses. 56% of grades awarded to full achievers were distinctions, 31% merits, and 13% passes.
Destination data analysed identified 2,153 students receiving offers to 140 different Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
The HEIs covered the breadth of the country from Scotland (Glasgow Caledonian University and Queen Margaret Edinburgh) to Wales (Bangor University and Cardiff University) to Northern Ireland (Ulster University) and throughout England. Out of the Times Higher Education top 20 Universities, Access to HE Diploma students secured offers from 16 out of the top 20 institutions.

Alongside these, offers were secured at more specialist universities including The University of Law, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Royal Veterinary College (University of London), Institute of Contemporary Music Performance London and the Open University.
The range of degree programmes that the 2153 students had offers for was broad with the most popular areas reported below. Over 60% of students are progressing to a health-related degree programme. It is notable however that there were some very different progression pathways that indicate the opportunity and flexibility completion of an Access to HE Diploma provides. This included degrees in Theology, Robotics and AI, Motorsport, Football Business Management, Medical Innovation and Enterprise and Bakery and Patisserie.
In terms of the typical offer made to students this was very broad and individualised. An analysis is provided – recorded in UCAS points – as offers made in terms of credits and grades was too broad to realistically draw a conclusion from.
