The AIM Qualifications Level 1 Award in Befriending qualification aims to provide learners with the opportunity to develop the listening and understanding skills associated with the role of a befriender and to recognise the support which may be needed to help individuals.
This introduces learners to the role of a befriender, and types of organisations which provide a befriending service. As well as understanding the boundaries of the role, the importance of preparation and reporting and appropriate use of safeguarding and equality and diversity during interactions, learners will also practice listening skills.
The qualification would suit learners who wish to work in voluntary or paid roles for befriending services or projects, such as those offered through Dementia Friends, Befriending UK, Age UK, Alzheimers’ Society, Mental Health befriending; UK Armed Forces support charities and many more.
Learners may progress into voluntary or paid roles, or into further learning including advice and support sectors.
