Junior Content Producer (level 3)

A junior content producer is responsible for developing and creating content that can be used across a variety of media including digital, social media, broadcast or in print. Working to the Image of BLOG on keyboardcustomer/client brief, they research, prepare and develop the media messaging to maximise audience engagement, capturing the strategy and objectives of the brand and needs of the customer they are representing. The content they create can be used as a part of media, advertising and marketing campaigns. They must capture what is exciting about a campaign and design the elements that can be used across media platforms and channels.

On-programme learning

The AIM Qualifications Level 3 Certificate in Creative Content and Production has been developed to support the delivery of Advanced Apprenticeships (Level 3) which offer entry level opportunities into a family of creative and operational roles across television and radio broadcast production including Broadcast Production Assistant and Junior Content Producer. The components of the qualification have been designed to closely map to the skills, knowledge and understanding identified in the Standards, which will support apprentices towards their readiness for the end-point assessment (this only relates to apprenticeships in England). However this qualification is not manditory and learners are still able to apply for the standard without this qualification.

The qualification covers core technical skills and knowledge, including production planning, production development, industry awareness, content creation, and also develops the learner's soft skills, including working to tight deadlines and reflecting on own practice. This qualification has been developed in partnership with leading employers across the broadcasting industry including the BBC, ITV, Sky, Channel 4 and Bauer Media and delivery partners that includes independent training providers and colleges of further education.

Gateway requirements

  • Completion of a portfolio used to support the professional discussion
  • Level 2 English and maths

Assessment methods

NEW: Emergency changes to assessments in response to COVID-19

  • Workplace observation: a three to four-hour observation of naturally occurring real work that takes place at the apprentice’s workplace
  • Set brief: a one-hour pitch to our assessor after three hours preparation time. To be held at the training provider or employer’s premises on the assessment day
  • Professional discussion: a one-hour discussion with our assessor. To be held at the training provider or employer premises on the assessment day

Indicative duration of assessment

The three assessments will usually be completed within three weeks of gateway (subject to availability of facilities and assessor).
