This qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to produce digital designs and fabricate items from these designs, whilst working within any relevant health and safety guidelines.
They will be able to use software effectively to create unique digital designs, with a view to manufacture. They will also be able to fabricate a design using more than one machine or process. They will be able to apply an understanding of how 2-dimensional design can translate into a 3-dimensional object.
This qualification can be used as a stepping stone to employment or further study by enabling the development of specific vocational skills. This Level 2 qualification also provides learners with a seamless progression route from the Level 1 Award in Digital Fabrication.

To be awarded the AIM Qualifications Level 2 Award in Digital Fabrication, learners must achieve:

Tutors:
To offer this qualification, centres must ensure that tutors hold or are working towards:
- A Level 3 qualification in digital fabrication or equivalent qualification in engineering and manufacturing.
- A UK recognised teaching and/or assessing qualification.
- At least a year?s meaningful experience in working within the engineering/manufacturing industries.
Internal Quality Assurer (IQA):
Centres must also ensure that they have in place an Internal Quality Assurance person who:
- Holds or is working towards a Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices or its equivalent.
- Has substantial experience of working in or assessing qualifications in digital fabrication.
- Is familiar with the assessment requirements of the qualification for which they are the Internal Quality Assurer.
