This qualification has been developed with the support of the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education (NRCSE) for those wishing to teach in, or further develop their knowledge of, supplementary education.
This qualification will give learners the necessary skills and knowledge to teach children and young people in supplementary schools.
This qualification can be used to prepare learners to enter employment in supplementary education or other forms of employment. It can also be used to support learners in an educational setting or help them progress to a qualification in the same subject area at a higher level or requiring more specific knowledge, skills and understanding. The qualification is particularly suitable for those who wish to develop and enhance personal and social skills through a broad learning experience across a personalised programme of study and gain an understand of, and increased confidence within the society in which they live and work.

To be awarded the AIM Qualifications Level 3 Certificate in Teaching in the Supplementary Education Sector, learners must achieve:
- 8 credits from the mandatory unit group
- 8 credits from the optional units

Tutors:
To offer this qualification, centres must ensure that tutors hold or are working towards:
- A Level 3 qualification in teaching in the supplementary education sector or
equivalent qualification. - A UK recognised teaching and/or assessing qualification.
- At least a year?s meaningful experience in working within the subject area of
teaching in the supplementary education sector.
Internal Quality Assurer (IQA):
Centres must also ensure that they have in place an Internal Quality Assurance person who:
- Holds or is working towards a Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices or its equivalent.
- Has substantial experience of working in or assessing qualifications in digital fabrication.
- Is familiar with the assessment requirements of the qualification for which they are the Internal Quality Assurer.
