This qualification has been developed with the support of the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education (NRCSE) for those wishing to further develop their knowledge of supplementary education and teaching skills.
The qualification is also suitable for learners who want to develop and enhance personal and social skills through a broad learning experience, across a personalised programme of study.
This qualification can be used to prepare learners to enter employment in the supplementary education schools and other out-of-school settings (OOSS). It can be used to support learners in an education setting and help them to progress to a higher level of study within this subject area.
This level 2 qualification is particularly suitable for those who wish to progress to the Level 3 Certificate in Teaching in the Supplementary Education Sector.

To be awarded the AIM Qualifications Level 2 Award in Teaching in Supplementary Schools and Other Out-of-School Settings, learners must achieve:
- 5 credits from the Mandatory Units
- 2 credits from the optional units

Tutors:
To offer this qualification, centres must ensure that tutors hold or are working towards:
- A Level 3 qualification in teaching in the supplementary education sector.
- A UK recognised teaching and/or assessing qualification.
- At least a year?s meaningful experience in working within the subject area of teaching in the supplementary education sector.
Internal Quality Assurer (IQA):
Centres must also ensure that they have in place an Internal Quality Assurance person who:
- Holds or is working towards a Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices or its equivalent.
- Has substantial experience of working in or assessing qualifications in the animal care sector.
- Is familiar with the assessment requirements of the qualification for which they are the Internal Quality Assurer.
