About this qualification

This qualification is being withdrawn. The qualification will close for registrations on 30/09/2023. Learners will still have until 30/09/2026 to certificate.

This qualification is designed to support staff to deliver education and training on the Prevent Duty, as well as promoting an inclusivity culture through the following of British Values.

Objectives of the qualification

It will equip learners with the knowledge to know what is meant by the Prevent Duty and how to respond to concerns for their one and others wellbeing, Learners will be able to refer any concerns to an appropriate individual if they perceive a risk to themselves or others of radicalisation. Learners can apply this knowledge to their current learning environment or work experiences.

Through exploring the British Values learners will start to understand how to promote an inclusivity culture and how this can protect young people from radicalisation and exploitation. Learner will be able to identify steps to take if there is a breach in British Values.

Rules of combination

To be awarded the AIM Qualifications Level 1 Award in Prevent Duty Awareness, learners must achieve:

  • 2 credits from the mandatory unit group
  • No optional units for this qualification

Quality Assurance Requirements

Tutors:

To offer this qualification, centres must ensure that tutors hold or are working towards:

  • Hold or are working towards a relevant teaching and assessing qualification at Level 3 or above.
  • Have undergone related mandatory training in Prevent Duty and/or British Values.
  • Have one years? experience in teaching, tutoring and assessing of learners (desirable).

Internal Quality Assurer (IQA):

Centres must also ensure that they have in place an Internal Quality Assurance person who:

  • Holds or is working towards a Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices or its equivalent.
  • Has substantial experience of working in or assessing qualifications in the Prevent Duty sector.
  • Is familiar with the assessment requirements of the qualification for which they are the Internal Quality Assurer.
