This qualification is designed for individuals who are working in the telecommunications industry or who are looking to have a career in the radio/wireless/cellular telecommunications industry as a field engineer.
Learners will gain an insight into Line Sweeping, Trace Interpretation and Practical Set up and Testing. Through a range of classroom teaching and practical lab work, learners will be thoroughly prepared to work in the wireless equipment networking and testing environment. This qualification also allows successful learners to gain accreditation with a Test Equipment Vendor where appropriate.
Learners may progress directly into employment as a field engineer in the wireless, radio and cellular telecommunications industry.

To be awarded the AIM Qualifications Level 5 Certificate in Telecommunications Test Equipment, learners must achieve:
- 7 credits from the mandatory units
- no optional units in this qualification

Portfolio of evidence including open and closed book examinations and practical demonstrations, alongside written work.
Tutors:
To offer this qualification, centres must ensure that tutors hold or are working towards:
- A relevant teaching qualification at level 4 or above.
- Bachelor?s degree level qualification or equivalent relevant demonstrable experience in the sector.
Internal Quality Assurer (IQA):
Centres must also ensure that they have in place an Internal Quality Assurance person who:
- Holds or is working towards a Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices or its equivalent.
- Has substantial experience of working in or assessing qualifications in wireless network technologies and wireless networks architecture.
- Is familiar with the assessment requirements of the qualification for which they are the Internal Quality Assurer.
