About this qualification

This qualification is being withdrawn. The qualification will close for registrations on 30/09/2023. Learners will still have until 30/09/2026 to certificate.

This qualification has been designed to provide an introduction to the basics of Cyber Security for those considering pursuing a career in this sector.

Objectives of the qualification

Through a selection of Mandatory and Optional units including Computer Systems, the Impact of Cyber Security, Information Technology for Business and the Internet of Everything learners will be aware of the dangers from and impacts of cyber security in a business environment.

Learners must have an interest in computer networks and associated technology and should be working at Level 1.

Why choose this qualification

On successful completion of the AIM Qualifications Level 2 Award in Cyber Awareness, learners may progress to similar learning at the same or a higher level, including the AIM Qualifications Level 2 Diploma in Cyber Awareness, or directly into employment in the cyber security field.

Rules of combination

To be awarded the AIM Qualifications Level 2 Award in Cyber Awareness, learners must achieve:

  • 10 credits from the mandatory units
  • No Optional Units in this qualification

Entry Requirements

Learners must have an interest in computer networks and associated technology and should be working at Level 1.

Portfolio of Evidence, which may include practical demonstrations.

Quality Assurance Requirements

Tutors:

To offer this qualification, centres must ensure that tutors hold or are working towards:

  • A relevant teaching or assessing qualification at Level 3 or above such as the Level 3 Certificate in Education and Training.
  • A relevant qualification in Cyber Security at Level 4 or above in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • A familiarity with Linux based Operating Systems, Penetration testing tools, Cyber defence methods and technology will be needed for some units .

Internal Quality Assurer (IQA):

Centres must also ensure that they have in place an Internal Quality Assurance person who:

  • Holds or is working towards a Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices or its equivalent.
  • Has substantial experience of working in or assessing qualifications in Cyber Security.
  • Is familiar with the assessment requirements of the qualification for which they are the Internal Quality Assurer.
