About this qualification

This qualification is being withdrawn. The qualification will close for registrations on 30/09/2023. Learners will still have until 30/09/2026 to certificate.

On successful completion of the qualification, learners will be able to take different roles within Local Authorities. Education Welfare Officers, Probation workers, Child Support and Child Protection Officers, Social Workers and teachers will all benefit from the skills and knowledge offered in this qualification.

This qualification provides knowledge of ways to work with children and families and the practical skills required to carry out child and family intervention.

Rules of combination

To be awarded the AIM Qualifications Level 4 Certificate in Child and Family Intervention, learners must achieve:

  • 17 credits from the 4 Mandatory Units

Learners will need to have the maturity to work with children and families and be able to study at Level 4.

Quality Assurance Requirements

Tutors:

To offer this qualification, centres must ensure that tutors hold or are working towards:

  • a Degree in Psychology or Social Work and
  • Have PTLLS at Level 4 or 5 or Teaching qualification and
  • Have an in-depth background of Family Intervention Work.

Internal Quality Assurer (IQA):

Centres must also ensure that they have in place an Internal Quality Assurance person who:

  • Holds or is working towards a Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices or its equivalent.
  • Has substantial experience of working in or assessing qualifications in children and family intervention work.
  • Is familiar with the assessment requirements of the qualification for which they are the Internal Quality Assurer.
