About this qualification

The Access to HE Diploma (Travel and Tourism) aims to develop students’ understanding of a range of subjects in order to define and explore the importance of the travel and tourism industry. Students will have the opportunity to learn about human behaviour, undertake research and enhance their communication skills.

This qualification also allows students to undertake units in travel and tourism, business, work placement, computing, sociology and social policy, geography and environmental science and law subject groups including Customer Service in Travel and Tourism, Business Accounting, Employment law, Conservation and Workplace organisation units. Throughout the diploma, students will also develop transferable skills such as working with others, effective communication, customer care and cross cultural understanding.

Objectives of the qualification

The aim of this qualification is to prepare students for progression into higher education subjects including, but not limited to:

  • business
  • business and management
  • event management
  • travel and tourism.
