The Access to HE Diploma (Public Services) aims to develop students’ understanding of a range of subjects in order to define and explore the importance of public services. Students will look at human behaviour, undertake research and enhance their communication skills.

This qualification also allows students to undertake units in policing and criminology, sociology and social policy, psychology, politics, law, business subject groups including Police Powers, Race and Ethnicity, Abnormal Psychology, Understanding Stress and Property Offences, Teamwork and 
Leadership units. Throughout the Diploma, students will also develop transferable skills such as research skills, working with others, utilising evidence and cross-cultural understanding.

The aim of this qualification is to prepare students for progression into higher education subjects including, but not limited to:

• business
• law
• policing
• psychology
• public services
• sociology
• sport.

Upon successful completion of this Diploma, students will be able to:

1. demonstrate different skillsets relevant to public service
2. use different perspectives to explain the importance of public services
3. communicate effectively with a range of public services audiences
4. develop core research, referencing and study skills for success in HE

The qualification prepares students for study at higher education level.
