The Access to HE Diploma (Law) aims to develop student’s knowledge in law and key legal principles of Law. Students will develop their analytical thinking, research and communication skills. Throughout the Diploma they will undertake preparation for study at Higher Education level.
It also provides students with the opportunity to look at different areas of law, including employment law, the judicial system, youth justice practice and human rights. Throughout the Diploma, students will also develop transferable skills such as evidence and reasoning, research, communicating effectively with others and using sources effectively.
The aim of this qualification is to prepare students for progression into higher education subjects including, but not limited to:
- law
- criminology
- criminal justice.
Upon successful completion of this Diploma, students will be able to:
1. demonstrate an understanding of the English Legal System
2. explain legal terms
3. produce a rational argument based on knowledge and information
4. outline key legal principles
5. develop core research, referencing and study skills for success in HE
The qualification prepares students for study at higher education level.
