The Access to HE Diploma (Humanities) aims to develop students’ understanding of a range of humanities subjects and explore ideas about identity, the diversity of human experience, human expression and behaviour.
This qualification also allows students to undertake units in policing and criminology, sociology and social policy, psychology, health studies, politics subject groups including Police Powers, Race and Ethnicity, Abnormal Psychology and Understanding Stress units. Throughout the Diploma, students
will also develop transferable skills such as research skills, working with others, interpreting information and critical thinking.
The aim of this qualification is to prepare students for progression into higher education subjects including, but not limited to:
- English language and literature
- history
- politics
- geography
- philosophy
- linguistics
- anthropology
- film and/or television
- classics
- media studies
- theology
- journalism
- communication studies
- international relations.
Upon successful completion of this Diploma, students will be able to:
1. demonstrate critical interpretation of creative and cultural expressions of what it means
to be human
2. explore a range of subjects in humanities
3. communicate complex ideas effectively
4. develop core research, referencing and study skills for success in HE
The qualification prepares students for study at higher education level.
