The Access to HE Diploma (Healthcare) aims to develop student’s understanding of the roles and responsibilities of healthcare professionals and the key concepts of human biology and health studies.
Students will have the opportunity to explore the legal, ethical, political, policy and personal boundaries of healthcare practice and to develop competence to contribute to quality services in this sector. Throughout the Diploma, students will also develop transferable skills such as effective communication, working with others, interpreting information and research and referencing.
The aim of this qualification is to prepare students for progression into higher education subjects including, but not limited to:
- adult nursing
- midwifery
- nursing
- health science
- pharmacy
- paramedic science
- radiography
- physiotherapy
- optometry
- dental hygiene
- psychology
- dietetics/nutrition
Upon successful completion of this Diploma, students will be able to:
1. explain key concepts in human biology
2. apply effective communication skills
3. explore healthcare from different perspectives
4. use evidence effectively
5. develop core research, referencing and study skills for success in HE
The qualification prepares students for study at higher education level.
