The Access to HE Diploma (Business and Accounting) aims to develop student’s knowledge and skills in a range of different Business and Accounting related professions. In this Diploma students will learn about business organisations and what influences them in the business environment. Students will develop their understanding of the key concepts of business management and financial accounting and enhance their numeracy skills.
Students will discover different approaches to management and leadership providing students with an opportunity to look at different roles in Business and Accounting. This qualification also allows students to undertake units in Business, Work Placement, Computing, Law and Maths subject groups including units such as Advanced Management Accounting, Business Planning, Consumer Law and Advanced Mathematics. Throughout the Diploma, students will also develop transferable skills such as working with others in team, strategic thinking, effective communication of complex ideas and numeracy.
The aim of this qualification is to prepare students for progression into higher education subjects including, but not limited to:
- business and accounting
- business
- accounting
- finance
- business management.
Upon successful completion of this Diploma, students will be able to:
1. understand how business operations work
2. explain the key principles of financial and management accounting
3. outline different approaches to management and leadership
4. interpret financial accounts from a managerial standpoint
5. develop core research, referencing and study skills for success in HE
The qualification prepares students for study at higher education level.
