The Access to HE Diploma (Art and Design) aims to develop student’s knowledge and skills in a range of different art and design professions. Students will develop their understanding of the key concepts of cultural understanding, critical understanding, creativity and competence.
This Diploma provides students with the opportunity to look at different areas of art and design, including textiles, graphic design, photography, ceramics, perspective drawing and presentation skills. Throughout the Diploma, students will also develop transferable skills such as creativity, independent study, critical engagement and communication skills.
The aim of this qualification is to prepare students for progression into higher education subjects including, but not limited to:
- architecture
- ceramic Design
- fine art
- graphic design
- illustration
- photography
- sculpture
- textile/surface design
- other art and design disciplines.
Upon successful completion of this Diploma, students will be able to:
1. explain key concepts in art and design
2. apply effective communication skills
3. demonstrate a range of skills in art and design
4. develop core research, referencing and study skills for success in HE
The qualification prepares students for study at higher education level.
