The Access to HE Diploma (Accounting) aims to develop student’s knowledge and skills in a range accounting related professions. Students will gain an understanding of the key principles of financial and management accounting as well as learning about the economy and how businesses work. Students will discover what a career in accounting entails and complete a variety of practical,
applied assessments.
This qualification allows students to undertake units in business, work placement, computing, law and maths subject groups, including units such as advanced financial accounting, consumer law and information management in the workplace. Throughout the Diploma, students will also develop transferable skills such as numeracy, working with others in teams, interpretation of data and
effective communication of complex ideas.
The aim of this qualification is to prepare students for progression into higher education subjects including, but not limited to:
- accounting
- business
- finance
- management.
Upon successful completion of this Diploma, students will be able to:
1. demonstrate an understanding of the range of contexts in which Accounting operates
2. explain the key principles of financial and management accounting
3. apply financial and management accounting techniques
4. interpret financial accounts for a wide range of users
5. develop core research, referencing and study skills for success in HE
The qualification prepares students for study at higher education level.
