Externally Assessed Exams

Scheduling

Online on-demand multiple choice examinations

Online on-demand examinations can be taken at any point throughout the year. To book learners onto the examination, centres must schedule the intended date and time of the online examination through the QuartzWeb Portal at least 48 hours before the intended date.

The registration process for these learners is the same as other learners. However, once the learners have been registered, they must be scheduled for the examination. This must be done or learners will not have access to the exam.

To schedule an online exam:

  • Click ‘Actions’, then ‘Your Runs’
  • Find the relevant Run and select the Run ID
  • Click ‘Results’, then ‘Assessment Scheduling’
  • Select the relevant unit from the dropdown menu
  • Enter the Assessment Start and End date/time
  • Select the check box ‘Show all Eligible Learners’, tick the learners who will be sitting the exam on this date
  • Click ‘Submit’
  • Download the log in sheet for the examination.

Your Customer Experience Adviser will provide you with credentials for the XAMS (external online examination) platform. Here you will be able to download your learner’s log in sheets, view the learner’s results once they have undertaken the examination and generate any reports. Please refer to the XAMs Centre User Guide available on our website.

Online on-demand AIM proctored multiple choice examinations
Mandatory requirement for:

Level 2 Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit (610/2250/0)

Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (603/2071/0) Effective from 1 September 2024.

Online on-demand examinations can be taken at any point throughout the year. To book learners onto the examination, centres must schedule the intended date and time of the online examination through the AIM portal. The learner must access the exam within 55 minutes of the schedule start time.

The specific registration template for these exams mandates the learner’s email address is included. Once the learners have been registered, they must be scheduled for the examination. This must be done, or learners will not have access to the exam.

To schedule an online proctored exam:

  • Click ‘Actions’, then ‘Your Runs’
  • Find the relevant Run and select the Run ID
  • Click ‘Results’, then ‘Assessment Scheduling’
  • Select the relevant unit from the dropdown menu
  • Enter the Assessment Start and End date/time*
  • Select the check box ‘Show all Eligible Learners’, tick the learners who will be sitting the exam on this date
  • Click ‘Submit’
  • Learners will receive a link to their personal email to access a system check to familiarise themselves with the system and ensure there are no access issues.
  • Once the system check is complete, learners will receive a link to their personal email to access the exam
  • To request for a link to be resent to a learner, please contact our Customer Experience team on 0333 034 8833 or email enquiries@aimgroup.org.uk

You can see more information in our proctoring factsheet.

* Please note: regardless of the end time, please be aware that this schedule will remain active for only 60 minutes from the assessment’s scheduled start time. For example, if you schedule a proctored exam to begin at 9am and set the end time for 1pm, the exam will only be accessible until 10am. After this time, it will expire, and the learner will need to be rescheduled.

Your Customer Experience Adviser will provide you with credentials for the XAMS (external online examination) platform. Here you will be able to view the learner’s results once the result is approved and generate any reports.
