AIM pledges support for Liverpool’s gaming future through GameChangers initiative

AIM Qualifications and Assessment Group recently pledged to join a community of GameChangers to grow and develop the games talent working in the Liverpool City Region (LCR), and to support the continued investment by both small and large-scale development studios in the North West.

GameChangers is a collective pledge by games development studios, education specialists and the LCR Careers Hub to develop new learning pathways, partnerships, funding opportunities and ways of working across Liverpool.

By joining the pledge, AIM hopes to help young people in the region acquire the skills needed to enter the games industry, and in turn help the regional development studios to fill skills gaps with young people from the local talent pool.

The next year will see AIM advising on possible learning pathways or qualification routes that could help action the initiative, through our established and award-winning expertise in games qualification and end-point assessment design to the collective.

AIM Qualifications and Assessment Developer, Robert Hinde, is leading on this project and said “it is very exciting to see such a linking between education, industry and young people of all ages in my home city – Liverpool has a wealth of talented young people poised to launch their careers, and I hope AIM can help to build a robust route from the classroom into the studio”.

Michelle Dow, from All About Futures said “we are so excited to be adding a broad range of organisations to the GameChangers pledge. This initiative has always had collaboration at its heart, and we welcome our newest member - AIM Qualifications and Assessment Group”.

AIM joins leading games studios including Avalanche Studios Group, D3T, Lucid Games, Ripstone, Scenegraph Studios, Skyhook Games, Universally Speaking, Firesprite and Wushu Studios who have already signed the pledge committing to working together to develop local games talent. These studios have been bolstered by educational and charity institutions such as AIM partner NextGen Skills and the LFC Foundation.
