AIM Awards launches into ESports

AIM Awards launches into E-Sports

We have been pleased to support AIM Awards students at Sunderland College to take part in Gameblast 18 https://www.gameblast18.org.uk/ an event raising money for SpecialEffect (https://www.specialeffect.org.uk/), a charity that provides equipment that helps people with disabilities to play video games. During the event students completed the component of our brand new, first ever Level 3 “E-sports Industry” qualification, requiring them to participate in the planning and execution of an E-sports tournament and demonstrate knowledge of how this industry works .

This was part of the British Esports National Championships with exciting matches taking place between colleges across the UK. Four AIM Colleges who run the AIM Awards Level 3 Games, Animation and VFX Qualifications have entered the arena. The Truro and Penwith representatives, Team Vertiseas, took on Sunderland College’s Suncoll Seers first who were impressive foes and beat the Cornish team in 2 Overwatch matches and a League of Legends battle. Vertiseas then took on North East Surrey College of Technology for 2 more rounds of Overwatch and another League of Legends battle. NESCOT were confident having come off two wins against Truro & Penwith’s sister college Callywith and whilst they gained the upper hand in a brutal 55 minute 3 X 3 battle in League of Legends, Vertiseas beat them back in Overwatch and won that round.

So, it’s all to play for and good luck to all of our Amazing AIM Awards Colleges.
