Five reasons to get qualified with AIMs Retrofit qualifications
26 April 2024
The journey to net zero
The UK government has ambitious plans to improve the energy efficiency of housing stock by 2035 as part of its decarbonisation goal to reach net zero emissions by 2050. Low-efficiency social housing means homes are cold, damp, and expensive to run for some of the most disadvantaged sections of society. This causes a range of physical and mental health issues for millions of low-income families that are already facing the scourge of fuel poverty in the Cost of Living crisis.
Ashden Climate Solutions in Action reckon over 400,000 built environment / retrofit professionals will be needed to reach net zero, but in reality, just 200,000 people currently work on maintaining and upgrading existing homes.
AIM understands the challenges associated with retrofitting millions of UK homes and we have a solution for changing this dynamic and bridging the skills gap through our suite of retrofit qualifications.
The time is now - 5 reasons to get AIM qualified.
Our retrofit qualifications are training the task force of professionals that are needed to ensure whole-house compliant retrofit energy saving measures are achieved at scale across the UK. In fact, 1,444 learners studied our retrofit qualifications in 2022-23 alone!
Here’s why we believe new entrants to the construction industry and those looking to upskill / move into a retrofit role should complete an AIM retrofit qualification.
Our retrofit qualifications:
1. Provide the framework for delivering leading edge training and professional development to:
- a new generation of retrofit professionals in the UK
- help employers fill vital skills gaps within the sector through upskilling or retraining opportunities
- support colleges and training providers to train their trainers who will deliver these courses.
2. Offer career progression through the achievement of qualifications available at different levels (2, 3, 4 and 5).
3. Cover key skills and knowledge relating to design, assessment and project management of a wide range of energy-saving refurbishment projects, ensuring whole-house retrofit measures.
4. Provide accreditation for professionals linked to a clear industry standard requirement (BSI PAS 2035).
5. Offer online assessments with a new proctored solution allowing learners to take exams at any time and anywhere, without the need for an invigilator (Level 2 Award only).
