Shape the future AIM of special educational needs qualifications
10 January 2024
Deadline: In order to meet IFATE deadlines, AIM must receive your letter by Monday 12 February 2024
As centres will be aware, the government has asked Awarding Bodies to reform qualifications in the Post 16 reform programme. We have recently redeveloped our AIM Qualifications Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry for Teaching Assistants Focusing on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (Diploma). The new qualification has come from the original Level 3 Certificate in Principles of Special Educational Needs.
Supporting evidence
When submitting reformed qualifications for approval with Ofqual and IFATE, we must provide supporting evidence to demonstrate that there is demand for the qualification. You play an important role in this process by assisting us to gather this evidence. We are asking all centres who have worked through us previously for SEN qualifications to send a letter of support for the new AIM Qualifications Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry for Teaching Assistants Focusing on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (Diploma) so that we can offer this to you and other centres in the future.
Have your say
If you believe this qualification will be of value to your provision, please use this letter template to create your own letter of support. We have offered a checklist below of what the letter should cover. We are looking for letters from institutions that have an ESFA funding agreement to deliver the qualification, skills fund (adult education budget or advanced loans). We will also accept letters from institutions that are contracted by the mayoral combined authority to deliver the skills fund (adult education budget). Please note, we understand that the enrolments data you provide will be an estimate with caveats, rather than a definite number.
This is your opportunity to support good qualifications and shape the future landscape, so we encourage you to take advantage of this and appreciate your support in the process. AIM would like to also take this moment to thank you for the continuing work you are doing to provide high quality education to learners.
Action required
If you believe this new qualification will be of value please help us by providing a letter that demonstrates demand. We have provided a template of what the letter should cover.
- Please copy the template onto your organisation’s letterheaded paper with the centre logo clearly visible.
- Refer to the checklist to ensure you include all the required information.
- Save the completed letter as a PDF and email to: qualificationandassessment@aimgroup.org.uk
