A plea from the Creative Industries Federation Team
13 October 2020
We need your support to save this industry....
Immense economic uncertainty given the ongoing pandemic and the looming end of the EU transition period means that this year’s Spending Review will take place in unprecedented circumstances.
Now more than ever our country needs creativity and innovation as we look to not only recover, but truly commit to sustainability, spread opportunity more widely and level up the UK.
During our Creative Coalition in June, hundreds of you gave up your time to re-imagine the future and share ideas on how we achieve this vision. We have since worked with members to shape and implement these ideas, amongst them key priorities for the upcoming Spending Review.
A two-page summary of recommendations can be seen on their website
Spending Reviews do not happen often - they are an important fiscal moment where UK government sets its budgets for the next three years. The Chancellor still intends to make an announcement before the end of the year for a multi-year package, although it is possible that this is pared back to a year given the ongoing pandemic.
This is a rare opportunity to achieve significant investment in our world-leading sector and we need your help. We will circulate key messages and infographics to share across your networks in the coming weeks, but as an immediate point of action:
• Write to your MP to ensure they’re away of our sector’s role and what we’re calling for - a template letter can be found here.
• Share our sector’s priorities with anyone you speak to across industry, government and parliament - a condensed briefing note can be found here and our full Spending Review Representation can be shared on request.
Thank you for your support and don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions.
Best wishes,
The Creative Industries Federation team
