Linda was involved in the very early days of Access to HE, helping to develop one of the first Access to HE programmes in the East Midlands region. She will be opening the conference with news of some exciting new developments we are planning.

The aim of the presentation is it to look at the:

  • Past state: lessons learned from the implementation of the Extraordinary Regulatory Framework in 2021-22 and the outcomes
  • Current state: Arrangements for the award and assessment of the Access to HE Diploma in 2021-22
  • Future state: What is the future for the Diploma? How can providers, students and other stakeholders be involved in driving the future of this Diploma (for example marketing, understanding the occupational landscape etc)

Who would benefit: Access tutors, Access managers and marketing staff.


Understanding social media (11:15hrs)

Getting the most from your AVA partnership (13:00hrs)

This presentation is aimed at new to AIM centres or providers looking to explore other options for an Access to HE awarding organisation. Taking a deeper delve into the AIM Access to HE offer.

Access to HE Research Results (14:00hrs)

This session will take you through research on the lived experience of mature working-class women on an Access to HE course. During the session, we will be looking at how the stigmatization of people claiming benefits has led to a number of women returning to education along with how the government’s widening participation agenda suggests that individuals who work hard can become upwardly socially mobile has affected the various students who have started an Access to HE Diploma.

An introduction to the Access to HE Diploma (Medicine) (14:00hrs)

Designing an Effective Diploma (14:50hrs)

We shall take a deeper look at our diploma offer and how many different ways one diploma can be used! Have you thought about how you can run the same diploma with different specialisms and pathways? Do you know how many different ways you could meet the rules of combination for one diploma that may meet the needs of multiple career pathways and university entry? Have you thought about how blended learning could develop the range of courses offered to prospective students?
