Location: Multiple locations across the UK. Occasional travel to AIM HQ in Derby may be required.

AIM supports the growth in the end-point assessment (EPA) of apprenticeship standards, delivery of high-quality EPA, working in partnership with major employers across sectors. We are currently focusing our work on the creative and cultural industries. We are seeking to recruit talented and motivated assessors across a range of standards in the creative sector, including Junior VFX Artist (Generalist).

Visual effects (VFX) is the term used to describe any imagerycreated, altered, or enhanced for moving media. They involve the integration oflive-action footage and computer generated imagery to create images which lookrealistic but would be dangerous, costly, or simply impossible to captureduring live-action shooting.

Junior VFX artist (generalist)

Junior VFX artists (generalist) work out the co-ordinates and the movement of the physical camera and/or objects in a live action shot; they must be able to track cameras and objects quickly and effectively. The junior VFX artist (generalist) needs to be able to deliver work within established project targets and timelines, and to the high quality standards of their company and clients. They may also be required to work on visualising complex scenes in a 3D animation (pre-viz, the 3D equivalent of a storyboard) before moving on to the more detailed parts of the process. In their daily work, an employee in this occupation interacts with engineers, designers and team leads, other visual effects teams, their supervisor and/or the client.

AIM Associate Assessors

End-point assessors carry out independent assessment of apprentices once they have passed through the gateway. End-point assessors must ensure their occupational competence and knowledge are up to date to ensure they have the right skills and knowledge to remain credible to employers and assess an apprentice's competence.

As an associate end-point assessor working with AIM you will:

• Assess and document apprentice competence against apprenticeship standards at designated venues using the stated assessment methods
• Carry out and document end-point assessment activities in line with AIM and regulatory arrangements
• Provide concise written feedback to apprentices to explain assessment decisions
• Complete and submit reports within the necessary timescales 
• Provide advice and support on end-point assessment 
• Participate in training and standardisation activities to ensure a consistent approach to end-point assessment
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of the organisation and AIM end-point assessment policies and procedure

Minimum requirements

Associate Assessors for Junior VFX Artist (Generalist) must:
 

1. Have recent relevant experience of the occupation/sector gained in the last two years or significant experience of the occupation/sector.
2. Have achieved an occupationally relevant qualification at a level equivalent to, or higher than, the apprenticeship standard being assessed.
3. Be a technical specialist in 3D VFX creation having previously undertaken this work in roles such as VFX Artist or Technical Director.
4. Maintain (and produce on request) up-to date record of CPD activities, which should equate to at least 5 days CPD in the last year.
5. Demonstrate CPD activities are of learning activities relevant to current or future practice.
6. Willingness to undertake training about assessment practice, operating the assessment tools and grading.
7. Be independent of the apprentice, their employer and training provider(s) i.e. there must be no conflict of interest
8. Ideally hold or be working towards an end point assessor qualification, this is desirable, not essential.
9. Experience of assessment (desirable not essential)
10. Experience of working in the education sector would be desirable, but not essential, as we are looking for industry practitioners
11. Hold minimum of level 2 English and Maths.
12. Be resident in the UK and have the right to work in the UK.
